what to do with the green beans?

My neighbor gave me some homegrown green beans last night and they look huge so I think they may be kind of woody. The last ones he gave us were not nearly this big and they were really tough skinned. I cooked them all day and had to throw them out. How can I salvage these? Can I take them out of thier shells? How best to cook them?
TY in advance.
Ps I already have some salt pork and/or bacon I could use.

can I put cooked green beans in a jar and finish them in the water bath?

I know in order to can green beans you need to pressure cook them. I was wondering if I cook them first can I just do the water bath b/c I am scared of the pressure cooker.

“Pulled pork” & green beans cooked together in a crock pot? Best way to do it?

I’ve seen many recipes for each dish cooked separately, but I’d prefer to throw the pork and green beans together into the pot in the morning and then, not have to deal with the dish again until I get back home in the evening (I’d check-in at lunchtime).
Most recipes for cooking the beans call for adding a lot of water- which I probably would not want to do if I was cooking the pork by itself. So how can I remedy the situation and cook both the pork & green beans at the same time? Has anyone here ever done that with success?

BTW: the recipe I will be using for the pork does not have BBQ sauce (which I don’t like), just garlic and some other spices. So I’m not cooking the beans in BBQ sauce..

I have fixed green beans & red potatoes in a crockpot for years, and I usually put in some ham or smoke suasage, but they still taste bland compared to other people’s I have tasted. I usually salt mine, but what else gives them the good flavor and taste.
